Submitted 26th June 2006
Learning Partners has been successful in securing Reframing the Future funding. The Federal funding was keenly contested with only 26 projects confirmed from over 500 applications. Learning Partners senior staff member Sharon Wiles will manage the project to develop a formal across industry managers learning network.
Specifically the group of senior managers, based in Adelaide, will:
- Explore, monitor and review a learning strategy being trialled across the companies for four different Traineeship qualifications.
- Develop a strategy for more effectively utilising the skills developed by trainees within the workplace context.
- Formally engage with relevant bodies that support the National Training System to discuss identified issues and report on the initiatives.
- Share knowledge and practice as a method of supporting/upskilling each other and as key stakeholders in the system.
- Identify a Skills Set for Senior Managers working in alignment with the National Training System within the context of the company core business and strategic directions.
The members will be inviting other senior managers from non-member companies into the network to promote the benefits of committing to training provision under the national training system, and supporting them to initiate traineeships/learning programs into their organisations. Learning Partners is currently delivering traineeships to the core network group. The network will also be accessing representatives from the relevant Skills Councils and other key stakeholders to discuss their perspectives on the national training system, share any issues/concerns, and to provide feedback.
The developed skill set for senior managers working with the system should enhance the understanding of the skills requirements for sustaining gains made by engaging in training under the National Training System.

Competency Based Trainers (CBT) will be known as 'Learning Partners' from 1 July 2005.
Over the past decade CBT has expanded significantly. The company's core business has diversified and grown well beyond its well known training and assessment programs. And while our training activities are still a prominent feature of the business, we felt that 'CBT' did not properly capture the scope of our work and the breadth of the education services we offer in 2005.
Our new name not only better reflects our corporate direction but also, importantly, the external relationships we have cultivated with our business partners.
Our range of services and existing business partnerships will remain in place - the company is changing in name only.
